"I purchased three of these kits as gifts for my son, son-in-law, and brother-in-law (all about the same age). They were each excited to get started when they realized what they'd been given! My son didn't even wait for Christmas to come (the gift arrived before Christmas) and he's anxiously posting FB updates on his "first batch of home brewed beer ever!" I think it was a hit!"

Not so happy December 26, 2011
"Although the gift itself seemed like a great one for my son, it was very disappointing to have him open it on Christmas morning only to find that it has several damaged parts. It may have happened in shipping, but we all doubt it. The bags inside had opened and spilled their contents, no likely to happen in shipping. For the amount of money I paid, I am not happy. My son decided he could try to salvage what he could, and after we cleaned up the mess all over my carpet, we put the contents into another bag. As for the beer, he is planning on trying to make it this week, but bearing in mind he'll have substitue some ingrediants."

"We bought this for our son-in-law last christmas. Even though it was not on his "list" we were pretty sure he'd like it. He LOVED it.
